Parking & Pickup Procedure Amendment

Important New After School Parking Lot Guidelines!

For Your Child's Safety!
Please keep for future reference

PARKING LOT GUIDELINES:   Parents are encouraged to let their children ride the buses, walk to and from school, or form car pools to reduce congestion in our school parking lot. However, if you must drive your student(s) to school, we have implemented procedures that make the parking lot a safe place for our students and families.

  • Before School:

Proceed through the parking lot until you drive past the handicap parking spaces closest to the building and enter our drop off area.  PLEASE FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS OF OUR STUDENT "TRAFFIC BUTLERS" WHILE AT THE DROP OFF AREA.  These students will open car doors and assist your children with backpacks, etc. while exiting the car.  Please pull up to the curb, then wait until children are safely on the sidewalk before pulling away.  You will recognize the 'butlers' by their yellow vests.  If you wish to walk your child into the building, please park in a vacant parking stall.
  • After School:

A. You may park in the parking lot in a vacant parking stall and walk to the school entrance to pick up your student and walk back to your vehicle with them.  Students will not be allowed in the parking area during this busy time without an adult.

     OR

B.  You may proceed through the parking lot to our pick up zone.  You must remain in your vehicle to use this area.  If your vehicle is left unattended, you may receive a Raven Traffic Reminder from one of our Traffic Butlers.  The procedures are:

    1. Proceed south through the parking lot and around the corner near the building.  Students are not allowed to approach or enter cars in this area as it inhibits traffic flow and cannot be easily monitored for safety.
    2. Continue pulling forward as traffic flow permits taking care not to block our handicap parking spaces.
    3. Traffic butlers will now be on duty to assist students and parents with the flow of traffic in and out of the loading area, the same as is done in the morning.  Please watch for their direction and assistance.  Pull over to the curb in one of our marked spaces as far north as possible.  Double parking is not permitted.  If you find that your student is waiting and there is no space at the curb, simply circle the parking lot again.  We will supervise your child until you can return to our safe location.
    4. Supervising staff will release your student to enter your vehicle from our "wait zone."
  • DO NOT BLOCK THE HANDICAPPED SPACES, even if no cars are parked there, and do not pull into these spaces unless you have a valid handicap permit.  This is against the law and subject to large fines.  Unauthorized cars will be reported.
  • REMEMBER THAT A SAFE ALTERNATIVE is to drop off and pick up your children at the back entrance of the school on Cascade Drive, where we have crossing guards both before and after school.   Please remember to avoid stopping your car in the crosswalk at that location.

Please take time to review these procedures at home with your child. Although we hope that most of our students will ride buses this year, we ask each parent who chooses to transport his/her children to and from school, to make a special effort to routinely follow these procedures each and every time they enter the parking lot. Thank you for assisting us in ensuring that all our students return home safely!
