Message From Principal New!

Dear Totem Falls Parents/Guardians:

If you ever drive your child to school, we need your help. The rainy weather always brings an increase in the number of cars to our parking lot, creating more congestion and safety hazards for our students. Here’s what we need ALL drivers to pledge and adhere to, if we are going to have a safe parking lot, especially during student drop off and pick up times:

·         Follow all marked traffic patterns.

·         Please use the right lane through the parking lot to access the Passenger Pickup and Unloading Zone. The left lane is for through traffic. Please do not cut through the parking stalls.

·         Pull your vehicle forward as far as possible in the Passenger Pick Up and Unloading Zone and follow the directions of the Traffic Butlers. Please remain in your vehicle.

·         Students should load/unload only from the right side of the vehicle and on the curb side only, in the designated Passenger Pick Up and Unloading Zone. Traffic Butlers will help with opening doors and removing backpacks when needed. Please wait until children are safely on the sidewalk before pulling away.

·         After you have picked-up/dropped-off your child, keep moving your car forward as spots clear. This will help minimize congestion and the number of cars weaving in and out of line.

·         When exiting the parking lot, please be aware that there are 2 turn lanes; one for right turn only and one for left turn only.

·         Vehicles should not be left unattended in the Passenger Pick Up and Unloading Zone. If you need to go inside or are picking up a kindergarten student, please park in the designated parking stalls.

·         Adhere to the parking lot speed limit of 5 MPH and always be extra cautious of pedestrians in the parking lot.

·         Do not block the Handicap parking stalls for any reason and do not let children in or out of your car in this area or any area, other than the designated Pick Up and Unloading Zone.

·         School buses entering and exiting school property have the right of way.

Following these simple steps will ensure the safety of all the precious students who attend Totem Falls. Thank you for your patience, efforts and cooperation in making the parking lot traffic flow work smoothly. We rely on you, our parents, to help us make these mornings and afternoons safe for everyone.

Sincerely,

Mike Cosgrove

School Colors and Mascot

The students and staff chose the school colors and school mascot our first year. The school colors are the Native American colors of red, white, and black; and the school mascot is "The Trickster", the fun-loving bird from the Northwest Coastal Native American folklore, also known as the Raven.

Important Reminder Concerning Personal Items

Please do not bring personal belongings such as game boys, trading  cards, walkmans and other items of value to school.  These things can cause classroom and playground  disruptions.  As well, our school is not responsible if they get lost.  Please keep these items at home for enjoyment.

Attendance Requirements

Washington State Law requires all parents to have their  children enrolled and  attending school full time in the district they reside.  If your child is absent from school for any reason, please call the school office at (360) 563-4751 on the morning of the absence or tardy.  You may leave a message 24 hours a day on our voice mail.  It is important we hear from you each morning of every absence or tardy.  If we don't hear from you, due to state truancy laws and because we care about your  children, we are obligated to call you.  Students who arrive late or leave early during a school day are required to be signed in/out by their parents in the office. Thank you for your cooperation!
